Sparrow by L.J. Shen

Mafia love stories aren’t usually the ones that jump out at me. While I read all genres of romance, this particular sub-sect has just never grabbed my attention and yelled at me to read it. Imagine my surprise when L.J. Shen’s Sparrow made me an offer I couldn’t refuse!

Set in Boston (one city in the U.S. I’ve never visited, but is tops on my list), Sparrow tells the unconventional love story of Sparrow Raynes + Troy Brennan. Sparrow, the young girl who has a spine of steel and a heart of gold who grew up on the mean streets of South Boston, and Brennan, the ruthless, sociopathic prince of a once-feared Mafia family. The most unlikely pairing, but they have no choice but be together.

I SO enjoyed Sparrow and her willingness and ability to be completely honest, even in the worst situations. She was genuine: a girl who was forced to grow up faster than any kid should and she lived by her own code of honor. Sparrow never backed down to Brennan, even when fear was slapping her in the face. She’s the type of heroine I enjoy reading: tough, smart, but kind. She understands she’s stuck and does what is needed to not only survive, but thrive!

As of 4.8.16, Sparrow is available on Kindle Unlimited.
