RATING: READ IT
May I confess something? I LOVE the opportunity to review books! Okay, I LOVE the opportunity to read stories and authors new-to-me and then tell everybody about my new discoveries. I have a thing for talking to others about my passions. Don’t get me started on pets or healthy living! While I’ve read thousands of books, I admit to turning to Mila for information on different authors or titles. She has far more familiarity with various authors. I tend to find my favorites and stick with them. Another huge perk to reviewing –getting me out of my comfort zone!
So I read two unbelievably amazing books, back-to-back, that darn near broke me! ME, the emotionally barren reader with little heart and soul. Well, that’s not entirely true, but I don’t get weepy over much. Not saying I haven’t shed a tear or two during or after a great read, but I can’t help wondering if dust got in my eyes…
Okay, I say this because the last thing I wanted was a third book that would make my stomach twist and turn and force me to rub my chest while reading. I needed something light and fun, but entertaining. Well, I got lucky (woo hoo!) in finding TWO such reads! What’s more incredible, they were written by the same author!
Celia Aaron is a new-to-me author, but what a gem! Mila mentioned Cleat Chaser to me a few times, but with other books ahead on my TBR list, I just never got around to reading it. When I looked at the books on my list ahead of Cleat Chaser, I decided to bypass the heart-wrenching ones in favor of something to make me smile. Co-written with Sloane Howell, Cleat Chaser is the story of Kyrie + Easton. One, a young journalist seeking to move forward with her professional life, but standing still in her personal life; and the other, a young professional baseball player with the world at his feet. This is the definition of “instal-love,” one look at each other and they were gone. But it’s also a sweet story of loving someone so much that you wait for them to deal with their past and accept them for who they are.
I then moved on to the Advanced Reader Copy of Ms. Aaron’s Cash Remington and the Missing Heiress. This was one of the fastest reads I’ve encountered – ever! In less than 35 minutes, I started and ended a James Bond-type story full of action, betrayal and sexytimes! Cash is the ultimate alpha hero whose job it is to save the world. And, oh, he’s SO good at his job! This is the first book in her new Sexy Dreadful series. The next book, Cash Remington and the Rum Run is scheduled for release June 2nd. Let’s be honest here, she had me at rum!
