The Panty Whisperer by Sloane Howell

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you know I’m honest to a fault. Stick with me here ~ it’s kind of a long story, but worth it in the end.

Back when I launched the blog’s Twitter account, Sloane Howell followed us. I saw that his books were KU, so I decided to check him out. I picked up The Panty Whisperer in January and got through a few chapters. I’ll be completely honest {hides face} ~ I thought, “Ok, this is totally a guy writing this and I feel like I’m reading a porn.”

Now, I love sex in books. In fact, if there’s a fade-to-black or slow burn book, Robyn knows it’s better if she’s the one to review it. So the fact that I wasn’t all over this one surprised even me.

A few months later, Cleat Chaser came out (written by Sloane and Celia Aaron). I read it and really enjoyed it and have mentioned it more than a few times in the group when members are looking for a quick, fun read.

Cut to last week. I ‘met’ Sloane on his Facebook page and told him about KUbbies’ Korner. He joined KK and we chatted a bit and he mentioned that both he and Celia had books coming out on the 19th. His was a re-release of The Panty Whisperer; hers was Cash Remington and the Missing Heiress. Sloane mentioned that he had reworked it a bit and I decided to give it another shot.

Holy. Shitballs.

I absolutely LOVED this book!

The sex is seriously hot (I mean, I never said I didn’t *like* porn), but it is so, so much more than that. The Panty Whisperer is deep and funny and smart. It is moving and emotional. I don’t know if it was the rewrite or if I just didn’t give it enough of a chance the first time (more than likely the case), but The Panty Whisperer is by far one of my favorite reads so far this year.

The Panty Whisperer is the story of Joel: smart, sexy and a man with incomparable talents. He gives women a sexual experience like they’ve never had before (and will likely never have again) and walks away without a second glance. Until he meets his match ~ Quinn.

The trajectory of the relationship between Joel + Quinn is wrought with a multitude of emotions. They are perfectly matched in every way, yet things are never quite as simple as 1 + 2 = 3, are they?

I loved watching their dance (and developed a major girl crush on Quinn), yet by far, one of my favorite things about The Panty Whisperer is the relationship between Joel and his best friend, Tommy. I felt like a girl that was allowed into the guys’ locker room. I loved their relationship and their vulnerability.  I also loved how well they knew each other and how they were truly there for one another. Plus, their banter was so brilliantly written, it was almost as if they had their own language. Quite frankly, there were even a few jokes that I didn’t get, which honestly made me love it all the more.

The Panty Whisperer will definitely make me think twice before ever throwing in the towel again. It also goes to show that books read differently at different times, and for different people. Lesson learned loud and clear.

As of 5.20.16, The Panty Whisperer is available on Kindle Unlimited.
