RATING: READ IT
Right off the bat, I dislike Oliver Parker to such an extent, I’m seriously doubtful I’ll ever be able to enjoy him as the male lead. He’s despicable. He’s crass and egotistical and basically an all around jerk. I must say though, I’m glad I took notes as I read Nights with Parker by Alice Tribue, because having just finished it, I’m honestly having trouble remembering why I hated him so much. Ah, the power of the written word.
Nights with Parker is the story of Oliver + Riley. Oliver is a wealthy, hotelier from New York in Savannah to renovate a hotel his family’s company just purchased. Riley is a sweet, strong, down-to-earth woman that’s a bit down on her luck. Due to some unique circumstances, she ends up in Oliver’s bed.
Their relationship is admittedly rocky from the start. However, the transition in their relationship to that of feeling and caring and want is so perfectly handled, you feel as though they were always meant to be together. It’s subtle and perfect. Then, when forces outside of them get tough, the emotional bonds they’ve built are then strengthened even more so – or are they?
There were twists and turns along the way that were not predictable and I loved that. I loved Pieces of Him by Ms. Tribue and am thrilled to have had the opportunity to read more of her work.
As of 9.27.16, Nights With Parker is available on Kindle Unlimited.
