Sunday KU Spotlight by KUBR + OCA

Hey, KUbbies and Addicts! Welcome back to the KU Sunday Spotlight by KUBR + One-Click Addict!  Here are two new great books to add to your TBR today!

RATING: BUY IT {Mila} – I’d never read anything by Layne Harper, but a good friend recommended her – a friend that is admittedly extremely particular, so I always trust her opinion. Given that, I should have known what I was in for, but I didn’t have a clue. Reading the blurb, I wasn’t even remotely prepared for the ride I was about to take.

No Pink Caddy is the story of MK + Aaron. “On paper,” MK is a just-turned 30 year old blogger that is looking for love, but doesn’t want to settle. However, saying that in such simple terms almost feels like an insult as she is truly so much more. She’s a character you immediately connect and fall in love with. She’s complex and insightful, smart, yet a little flighty. Kind and caring, even if sometimes a little more than self-involved. Young and free, yet infinitely wiser than her years.

Honestly, the book started out like so many others – great characters, fun story, great setting. I’ve always been a fan of New Orleans, but in No Pink Caddy, NOLA almost feels like its own character. One you can’t help but also fall deeply in love with.

And then there’s Aaron. The consummate rock star that is gorgeous, talented, sexy and mysterious and, of course, broken.

When they first meet, the tension is fierce and it was exciting to watch them discover each other. The build up was intoxicating and hot. But as the story progresses, we are exposed to the flaws of man. The things that make us each human and turn gods into mortals. There are moments of bliss, yet oftentimes and perhaps even more than those moments, there is sadness and fear. Fear that they won’t make it through all of this.

MK + Aaron are tested over and over. Are they destined to be together? Can they each stand strong on their own without the other’s light or will being together consume them both?

No Pink Caddy is the first book in the ACE series and I am eagerly awaiting its sequel.

RATING: READ IT {Robyn}: I’ve become accustomed to reading stories about addiction, rehabilitation and second chances. Usually the hero of the story is addicted to drugs or alcohol and has to fight for the girl that got away. She’s his catalyst for regaining control and seeking help to save their life. Love cures all. Maybe it’s this reason why I’m completely fascinated with Sasha Brümmer’s Blended.
Blended tells the story of live-by-the-seat-of-your-pants Hadley and the hardworking billionaire playboy, Wade Brass, two unlikely people destined for one another. Fate certainly plays a hand in bringing these two together, pasts of addiction and other abuses threaten to tear them apart. Can they truly open their lives and hearts to blend a new life with each other?

Hadley Rye is one of the most unique and complex heroines I’ve had the pleasure of reading. She takes complete ownership of her choices and lives an unapologetic life. She remains true to herself while reconciling a past forced on her and a future she’s dreamed about. Her addiction is not one I’ve read in any story in this genre and I found myself a bit shocked at the revelation. It is, however, real and understandable as we learn more about who she is at her core. I applaud Ms. Brümmer for taking the chance and writing a character that so many, male and female, can easily relate to.

As of 10.9.16, No Pink Caddy and Blended: A Redemption Novel are available on Kindle Unlimited.
