RATING: READ IT
Can’t Touch This by Pepper Winters writing as Tess Hunter – This book was a breath of fresh air! Vesper + Ryder kept me entertained through the whole book with their witty banter and crazy lust for each other. This is one of those stories that is a falling-in-love-quick book. There isn’t a whole lot of turmoil and emotional stuff. Vesper is a vet and Ryder is a dog rescuer. I absolutely loved these two together. Being someone who is involved in dog rescue, I loved that the author brought some of the things that rescuers see into this book. Vesper + Ryder fall fast and hard for each other. They test each others’ limits in every way. I loved Ryder’s relentless pursuit of Vesper and I loved Vesper’s cranky demeanor. They set the pages on fire! This was a fun read.
Depths of Salvation by Molly E. Lee – There is something about Molly’s books that I can’t get enough of. They are full of romance, but the action that is in each book is awesome! It’s like watching a movie or TV show for me. I love that the heroine and the hero are both risk takers and live dangerously and that is what draws Connelly to Sadie and vice versa. They see themselves in one another and realize that they are each other’s soulmates. This story drew me in and I loved the feisty heroine, Sadie. The friends that they surround themselves with, too, are a good cast of characters. Another great book in this series. All of the books can be read as a stand alone.
Joint Venture (The Venture Series Book 4) by Kristen Luciani – This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I really liked the characters AJ + Lisa. Both have been burned in the past and both only want hook ups. They’re not looking for anything long term. After several chance meetings, both AJ + Lisa are feeling something for each other, but don’t know what to do about it. Can they be brave and see that relationships aren’t black and white and take a chance on love with each other? Perhaps this is their shot at a happily ever after and to change the past that they see themselves repeating.
I loved this circle of friends. I thought that the supporting friends were great. This is a stand alone book. I really enjoyed the story and am hoping to go back and read the rest of the crew’s stories!
When Stars Collide (Light in the Dark Book 2) by Micalea Smeltzer – This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. This was a brother’s best friend romance. Xander + Thea have always been in each others’ lives. They grew up together and Xander was Cade’s best friend. As they got older, Xander + Thea ignored their pull towards one another, since it would hurt Cade. That was until they went to Vegas and ended up married after a drunken night out. Thea has given Xander the summer to show her that they belong together for real. They have a lot working against them, including their young ages and different places in life.
I loved the witty banter between Thea + Xander and the deep relationship they shared after years of friendship. I loved their close ring of friends and family, too. As we see the nightmare that Thea and Cade grew up with, they need this support system more than ever. This was a really good read and I enjoyed it. This is book two in the series, but can be read as a stand alone.
