Lucas by Jay McLean

RATING: BUY IT

Having read the More Than series, one of my favorite series ever, I knew Lucas or rather, I knew of Lucas. What I didn’t know was how much I was going to love him. Although I should have expected it, really. Moreover, after having read so many of Jay McLean’s stories I knew that I was in for a ride. What that ride would look like, however, I could have never anticipated. The thing is this – even knowing there would be ups and downs and laughter and tears, the thought I kept coming back to time and again as I was reading Lucas was that Jay McLean is simply (and it’s no simple feat) a remarkable storyteller. Her writing is real and poignant and funny and heartbreaking and, in a word, special. Very, very special.

lucasLucas is the story of Lucas + Lois. Best friends since they meet as children and everything to each other as they navigate growing up – even when they aren’t together. Getting to know these two special characters is like the best dessert: a remarkable treat you devour and savor all at the same time. These are characters that elicit your adoration and your admiration. Characters you truly fall in love with. Characters that will stay with you.

I honestly don’t read a lot of YA/NA, but Jay McLean is and always will be an exception for me. Whatever she writes, I will read. Regular readers of the blog know that I tend to go for the dark, dirty, sexy reads. So even if you don’t typically read YA/NA, I highly recommend you give Lucas a shot.

Lastly, I love that Lucas is a standalone novel, because I love that it will introduce so many new people to the More Than series. A series that should be on everyone’s TBR list and read, not merely left there to linger.

As of 11.01.16, Lucas and the entire More Than series are available on Kindle Unlimited.
