KU Sunday Spotlight by KUBR + OCA

After a fabulous weekend spent meeting some of our favorite authors (and each other *happy dance*) at the COPA signing in New York City, we’re back with the KU Sunday Spotlight, brought to you by KU Book Reviews + the One-Click Addict Support Group. This week, we’re getting dark with a Buy It and dirty with a Read It, so make sure you add them both to your TBR!

RATING: BUY IT {Mila} –

M. Never never lets me down. Never. I fell for her writing immediately when I devoured the entire Decadence After Dark series, and the love affair hasn’t stopped since. I love darker reads and Moto and Trinity were departures from that, still fabulous {hello MFM and MMF!}, but not dark. And now, now she hits back with Ghostface Killer. Freaking-effing-perfection.

GhostfaceKiller

More often than not these days, when it’s an author I love, I go in blind. I trust in the ride, so I just jump in head first. I did the same here and I’m so pleased that I did. I think I had seen a teaser or two about, “He made me a killer…” plus the name alludes to that, of course, but that is all that I knew. I didn’t read a single blurb or excerpt, and trust me, it was hard to avoid those newsletter exclusives. But I held out and it paid off in spades.

I was torn on how much I wanted to give away in this review, but I’ve decided to give almost nothing except to tell you this: Ghostface Killer is the perfect ride. The setup, the details, the history and the execution—every step taken is exactly where we need to be in that moment. The perfect amount of angst, the perfect amount of emotion, the perfect amount of heat. If you haven’t read M. Never before, this is the perfect introduction. If you have, then definitely pick up Ghostface Killer—you will not be disappointed.

RATING: READ IT {Beth} –

“I can’t keep my hands off you.”
“I don’t want you to try.”

I’ll be honest, there are days when I am convinced it would be easier to pick a favorite child than it would be to pick which book I am going to read next. And today was one of those days…

KickinDust

That is, until I found Kickin’ Up Dust (Operation Cowboy Book 1). I mean…

Brodie is a former Marine, returning home. Danica is the little sister of his fallen best friend. Best friend’s little sister? Yes, please.

They live side-by-side in small-town Texas—a community in need after being leveled by Mother Nature. Small town romance? Sign me up.

He’s a cowboy, she’s a cowgirl, and they both work hard and play harder… and dirtier. Cowboys and kink? HELL yes.

Guys, I’ve read several books by Em Petrova in the past, and whoa, they are hot. Not just hot, but like, HOT hot. But they’re often more than that, and this book is a fine example. It has heart and humor, as well as scorching heat. Brodie + Danica have a wonderful chemistry, and though I wished a couple of times for them to move past some of their issues a bit sooner—mainly because it was so obvious they were meant to be—on the whole, I enjoyed Kickin’ Up Dust with this cowboy and his cowgirl.

I truly hope that we’ll see more of this series from Ms. Petrova. Brodie’s friends were super fun, and Los Vista—and its struggles—definitely deserves its own HEA. Plus, knowing there are more sexy cowboys waiting to be read? Well, that would make deciding what to read next a whole lot easier.

“This ain’t over, darlin’. I’m going to prove to you that I’m the man for you.”

As of 04.09.2017, Ghostface Killer and Kickin’ Up Dust are available on Kindle Unlimited.
