Sexy Beast by Piper Rayne

“How could you think I didn’t want you?”

Sexy Beast and Garrett Shaw are officially my favorites from Piper Rayne. Truly, I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Yep, I just said that.

I’ve made a habit recently of grabbing Piper + Rayne’s titles as soon as they become available, then reading them soon after that. No Kindle-lingering here. Why? That’s easy—good story-telling, likable characters, humor, heat and heart.

Essentially, they’ve become a sure thing in my little book world.

Which is why I was so excited to read Garrett’s book. As I said in my review of Real Deal, I was very much looking forward to Garrett + Charlie. So, I’m not just happy, I am thrilled to report that Sexy Beast not only met my expectations, but surpassed them.

This book had feels. FEELS. Garrett’s grief, his fear, were written just so—making it believable despite the time that had passed since his loss. Not mention he’s just a gruff, bearded, manly delight of alphaness and soft heartedness. Meanwhile, Charlie’s passion, her sassiness, her everything was on point—she was fun and light in a book that needed someone a bit softer than man-beast Garrett.

Together, Garrett + Charlie made me smile and swoon and, yes, I admit, get kind of weepy. How could I not? We’re talking stupid but understandable mistakes, sweet and redemptive gestures, cute and funny asides. Not to mention the hot and heavy good times… *wink wink*

Oh, and the friendships. Let’s not forget those. Marcus + Cat, Dane + Ava were present enough to give me my fill, but never overtook the story. They helped shine the spotlight on Garrett + Charlie, and Garret + Charlie used it well.

So, basically, what I’m trying to say is that Sexy Beast was all the things. Everything I need in a book to make me want to keep turning the pages long after the {perfect} epilogue is done. And hands-down my favorite from this author duo… so far.

“I think I need to torture you with sweet kisses and tender words tonight.”

As of 07.18.2017, Sexy Beast is available with Kindle Unlimited.
