KU Sunday Spotlight by KUBR + OCA

Welcome back to the KU Sunday Spotlight, brought to you by KU Book Reviews + the One-Click Addict Support Group. This week, a Read It review for one of my favorite authors—featuring a hot rock star and the girl who was only ever supposed to be a one-night stand… Enjoy!

You think you don’t fit in my world, but what you don’t get is that you are my world.

Jessica Prince is one of those authors I get excited to read each and every time she releases a book. So, when she released her latest, Corrupt, I was both giddy—and slightly unsure.

You see, rock star romance is… not my favorite. And that’s what Corrupt is. A sexy one-night stand with one of the world’s biggest rock stars that turns into a lovely love story, albeit with a few bumps along the way. It’s well-written, as always, and definitely has both the heat and feels that I’ve come to expect of Ms. Prince.

To that end, I was deeply emotional at certain points while reading—and it showed in my face, I have no doubt. I could feel the frown form and deepen, and I could feel my eyes start to water. However, prior to that, what I could feel most of all, was my blood boil.

I won’t deny that I really enjoyed Garrett + Gwen… during the second half of this book. I struggled more with the first half, and it’s for two reasons. One, we never got inside Garrett’s mind to really understand his actions and, two, I wanted a little more push/pull; an explanation or apology that made me fall for Garrett a little harder and a little sooner.

Which isn’t to say I didn’t fall for him at all. Because I did. There were moments when my heart was all aflutter, particularly when he’d call Gwen baby coupled with some other swoony moment or plan or words. And, of course, the catalyst for bringing them and tying them together? So sweet.

And, dude, speaking of sweet, as the start to the Civil Corruption series, Corrupt is pretty damn sweet. There’s a host of characters who I couldn’t help but get invested in, and I can’t wait to know more about all of them.

Which means, when Ms. Prince is ready to release the next book in this series, I will, no doubt, be excited to read, just like always.

He was like a hurricane, wreaking havoc and leaving destruction in his wake when he didn’t get what he wanted… but damn if I didn’t secretly love the ride.

As of 09.17.2017, Corrupt is available with Kindle Unlimited.
