RATING: BUY IT
From the moment I read the blurb of A.M. Hargrove’s From Ashes to Flames, I knew I was going to fall in love with this single dad story. The concept really spoke to me.
Marin + Greydon have both had it rough when it comes to past relationships, giving them no hope at finding someone to trust and love. Complete opposites, when Marin comes to work for Greydon, their story sparks to life. Marin is all sass and color in Grey’s very dark world. The heartache that this man is experiencing is affecting, and the pain and anger is eating him alive. She challenges him at every step, making him want to start living his life again.
I will admit, it took me quite a while to fall in love with the stubborn Greydon West. He had been burned too badly in the past, such that he fought tooth and nail against any feelings he had for Marin. He couldn’t allow his world to implode again.
Marin, on the other hand, is the kind of heroine I adore. She’s been burned in the past but is finally taking back her life. She is all sass and spark, and puts Grey in his place time and time again. I loved that this girl, who had no idea of what it was like to be around a child, took care of Grey’s kids with the fierce protectiveness of a mother. She gave everything to those kids when their father could not.
From Ashes to Flames was such a powerful story and I loved it. You know there is something special about an author when they can take a character that you have a really hard time liking, and make you fall head over heels in love with them. Greydon West is a man battling so much, but when he allows himself to see what’s been right before him all along, he becomes the man I always knew he was . . . *Sigh*
If you love a saucy and smart heroine, and a single dad story, you will fall in love with Greydon + Marin. Curl up with From Ashes to Flames today!
