KU Sunday Spotlight by KUBR + OCA

Welcome back to the KU Sunday Spotlight, brought to you by KU Book Reviews + the One-Click Addict Support Group. This week, a trip to the fictional-but-I-wish-it-were-real town of Bootleg Springs with a new-to-me author. As always, enjoy!

“Don’t be afraid. I’ll take care of your heart if you take care of mine.”
“Darlin’, I’ll take care of it like it’s my most prized possession.”

You know, I’m incredibly sad that Bootleg Springs isn’t a real place. Sidecar Crush marks my second sojourn into this quirky West Virginia town, and I absolutely love it. So much that I want to make an actual trip there.

Sidecar Crush also marks something else—my first time reading Claire Kingsley. I grabbed the first in this series because it was written by Lucy Score, and immediately became addicted to the kinda crazy Bodine family—not to mention their kinda crazy friends and neighbors—which meant I was a lock for book two, new-to-me author or not.

Honestly, I’m not surprised I loved it. No, if anything, I’m surprised I haven’t been reading more of Ms. Kingsley’s books. Her writing style is personable, her dialogue on point. And her characters? Completely lovable. Jameson + Leah Mae totally and utterly charmed me with their friends-to-lovers romance. I loved his shyness and the way she brought him out of his shell. I loved her spunk and how he helped her find herself again.

And most of all, I loved all of the interactions in between. Bar fights and obstacle courses. Fireworks and Bootleg Justice. Every page, someone or something gave me a reason to smile or laugh or swoon or want to throw someone in a dumpster.

That’s how you know it’s a good book—the feels, the engagement, the fact that I’m ready for the next book . . . and desperate for another sojourn into Bootleg Springs.

“Oh, darlin’,” he said, his voice breathy and low. “I have wanted to kiss you for so damn long.”

As of 05.20.2018, Sidecar Crush is available with Kindle Unlimited.
