The Tequila Duet by Melissa Toppen

tequila hazeI read my first Melissa Toppen book last year. I was completely sucked into the story and blown away by her characters and the writing. Since then, I’ve been patiently trying to work in another of her books, and was finally able to do that with The Tequila Duet, which I absolutely loved!

Hudson + Lennon’s story is a second chance romance that I couldn’t read quick enough. I finished Tequila Haze and, though I had Tequila Burn, I couldn’t jump right into the second part of their story since I had to read a few other books first. I swear, every time I’d open my Kindle it would taunt me! You need to finish this story, it would say! FINALLY, I got to Tequila Burn and it was everything I hoped it would be.

tequila burnMs. Toppen does a wonderful job of creating characters who have a lot of depth and charisma. Even the secondary characters are memorable. Lennon + Hudson’s besties were right up there when I think about this duet and how those friends were an integral part of their journey. I love when all characters are fleshed out; it enriches the story so much for me.

I could tell from the beginning what the big issue between Lennon + Hudson was going to be. It was like a string that Lennon kept pulling on, until she unraveled everything. I cried for her as her distrust eclipsed the love of this man who gave her everything, including his heart. Hudson was deliciously swoony and I loved him from the very beginning. Through it all, my heart held hope for these two as they found their way through muddy waters.

The Tequila Duet was an amazing read and if you haven’t read Melissa Toppen yet, you must pick up these books and pop your cherry! You won’t regret it!

As of 05.24.18, The Tequila Duet is available with Kindle Unlimited.
