RATING: READ IT
Have you ever read a book where everything that happened was so absurd, yet so hilariously funny, it could only happen to this group of characters? Since it’s the Fourth of July here in the States, I picked up Tara Sivec’s The Firework Exploded and laughed my way through the evening!
The Firework Exploded is a part of Ms. Sivec’s The Holidays series, of which I read the first book a while back. This is the third book in the series, however I jumped right in and didn’t miss a beat, so it can definitely be read as a standalone.
Noel + Sam are getting ready for their wedding and everything is crazy around them. Ms. Sivec does an outstanding job of coming up with one crazy scene after the next. Each one is laugh-out-loud funny. It reminded me of the wedding scene in the movie Meet the Parents where everything that could go wrong does. That is exactly how Sam + Noel’s wedding day—and the days leading up to the big day—goes.
Ms. Sivec has a wacky humor, which she is able to deliver through her stories. A lot of The Firework Exploded is over-the-top, but it totally works and makes the story so funny. This family is so incredibly unique; from Aunt Bobbi to the cat Turd Ferguson, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the Holiday family, and I can’t wait to get through all of their adventures. I know that I will laugh my way through each one!
Romantic comedy describes this book perfectly. If you are looking for something to make you laugh and give you a good love story, this book does it all! Spend your holiday with the Holiday family and buckle in for the fireworks!
As of 07.05.18, The Firework Exploded is available with Kindle Unlimited.
