Close by Laurelin Paige

closeEver since I picked up the Fixed trilogy by Laurelin Paige, I’ve been a true fan of her writing. With every book and series she writes, she gets better and I find new characters to obsess over. Close, her current book, was another homerun.

Ms. Paige does something in this book that I don’t see enough of: Natalia, our heroine is thirteen years older than our hero, Nick. In our society, it’s very acceptable for a girl to be dating a guy thirteen years older, but when a woman does it, she’s a cougar. I loved that Ms. Paige tackles the age barrier in this book and shows that a woman in her mid-thirties is just as sexy and desirable as someone younger. I could feel Natalia’s struggles being in a relationship with someone so much younger, and it made me love her even more.

Nick, although only twenty-three, is wise beyond his years. He grew up in the music business and had to become an adult way before his time. Age is truly just a number to him and he only has eyes for the beautiful Natalia. Her age never bothers him—if anything, she is sexier because of it. Nick goes above and beyond to show his devotion to and love for Natalia, and it had me positively swooning throughout the story.

The way that Ms. Paige has put together this series has me eagerly awaiting the next release. The other two Ryder brothers will be written by Kayti McGee and J.D. Hawkins. I love that we get three brothers from three different authors writing in this world. I can’t wait to read the next one!

As of 10.16.18, Close is available with Kindle Unlimited.
