Betting on Him by Kelly Collins

RATING: READ IT

betting on himI was able to read a new-to-me author this last week and I’m thrilled! Kelly Collins’ Betting on Him was my kind of mafia book!

Ms. Collins takes the mafia world, making it a little tamer for those of us who love a mafia story but prefer it lighter, while also appealing to a broader audience. Add in a fake marriage where the characters have off-the-charts chemistry, and you have a great read!

Alex + Faye didn’t plan to ever get married, but when fate threw Faye in Alex’s path, and he sees marrying her as a way out of his mess, they both take it. The banter between these two was fun, since Faye continually put Alex in his place. Alex fell hard and fast for Faye because she did something that nobody else had ever done in his life—she made him work for her respect and her love. Growing up in a mobster family everyone had Alex on a pedestal, but Faye didn’t miss an opportunity to put Alex in his place.

Without a dime to her name or the greatest family, Faye was a strong person who worked for everything she had. I admired that even though her life hadn’t been easy, Faye always found a way to come out ahead. She was loyal and had a backbone, and I knew she was Alex’s perfect fit.

This is book one in a new series by Ms. Collins. I loved the lighter feel in this book, the fun characters, and the camaraderie of the Wilde family, their employees and Faye’s friend, Trish. These characters really became a family and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for the Wilde bunch!

As of 10.18.18, Betting on Him is available with Kindle Unlimited.
