Defending Allye by Susan Stoker

RATING: BUY IT

defending allyeI was excited to see that Susan Stoker had a new series in KU—and that it was also available to listen to for free! The Mountain Mercenaries series kicks off with Defending Allye.

We were first introduced to the Mountain Mercenaries at the end of the Ace Security series. I knew when these books came out, I wouldn’t be able to wait to get my hands on them! These men are ex-military and part of an elite underground security company. Defending Allye introduces us to each of the men as they work on protecting Allye.

Gray, our hero in this book, had me swooning after the first few chapters when he showed not only strength, but so much compassion for Allye. Of course, Gray has his baggage, but he’s protective of her to a fault—the thought of losing her almost cripples him and causes him to make some poor choices. This man is the type of hero I love to read about. A little damaged, Alpha male who learns to put himself out there and fall in love.

Allye: It’s like alley, but change the y and e. This made me laugh every time she would say it—she would be in some crazy predicaments and yet she would make sure they knew how her name was said and spelled. Cracked me up every time. This woman showed so much strength and courage, and I fell in love with her character.

Ms. Stoker does an amazing job of writing an intense story with so much description, it almost had me cringing at times at how descriptive things were. The characters were well developed and were people that I was invested in. This team of men is definitely one I want to see how all of their stories play out.

Defending Allye was fast-paced and I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to dig into book two. Great read!

As of 03.19.19, Defending Allye is available with Kindle Unlimited.
