Where the Road Takes Me by Jay McLean

where the road takes meThat feeling you get when you close a book that you absolutely loved, your heart is full, yet you cry because you wish you could read it again for the first time . . . sigh . . . Jay McLean is the master.  She is my “red letter day” and her words, her stories, her characters—she blows me away. Every time.

I don’t know why I never read Where the Road Takes Me. Somehow or another, I skipped it and it appeared in my Goodreads feed the other day—perfect timing. I was looking for that steal-my-heart, take-my-breath-away kind of story and BAM! Ms. McLean to the rescue.

This isn’t a book, it’s a winding road. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, soul shattering, rip-you-up-and-put-you-back-together-again magical.

Chloe + Blake are an unlikely pair. She wants to remain invisible, while he’s in the spotlight. Together, their ride is bumpy but magical.

“…Sometimes when I’m with you, that’s all I want. I want to kiss you like my life depends on it.” My voice cracked, but I kept going. “If I could dream the same dream a million times over, it would be you—you would be my last kiss, my last breath.”

“Chloe,” he sighed.

And then he kissed me.

He kissed me with everything he had. Every piece of him.

Like his life depended on it.

You’ll fall in love with their love and their one-of-a-kind incredible journey. Ms. McLean is a unicorn author for me, and her words always cement their way into my heart. Absolutely beautiful story!!

“Sometimes the wrong path can lead us to the right road. And toward the greatest thing that will ever happen to us.”

As of 4.2.19, Where the Road Takes Me is available with Kindle Unlimited.
