Out with the Old and In with the New

We’re making some BIG changes to the blog starting this week and we hope you’ll LOVE what’s coming!

We launched KU Book Reviews in January of 2016 and have loved sharing our Read Its and Buy Its with you. However, lately we’ve been feeling like our reviews sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher on repeat: “Wahh, wahhh, wahhh wahh wahhh…” We LOVE the books that we’re reading, but we sat down and had a long discussion recently and found that we all feel the same way—that we keep saying the same things over and over… and over again. Frankly, there are only so many ways that you can say a book, “broke my heart and put me back together.” LOL

Now, what we write is the truth and everything we’ve conveyed in our reviews is 100% authentic to our individual experiences, but while we’ve been super excited about READING the book, the way we’ve been REVIEWING the book felt outdated and more of a ‘been there, done that’ experience. So we thought, what do our readers want and how can we make it fun again?

Here’s what we’ve come up with:

Starting this Wednesday, we’re going to post one blog per week. A blog might have two recommendations or it might have twelve. We honestly don’t know. What we do know is that we’re going to be bringing you our fave reads of the week in each blog. We don’t love blurbs or book reports, so we’re doing away with that aspect of it. No more reviews per se, but here’s what you’ll be getting from us:

Book Title by Author Name

Rating: Read It or Buy It

Fave quote from the book

Bite from the book {if it exists}

And here’s the BEST part! Each book will have hashtags—our “Dirty Dozen” if you will.

#ultimatebookboyfriend

#jerkyoulovetohate

#brokemeandputmebacktogether,

#allthefeels

#nextlevelwriting

#oneclickauthor

#readitinonesitting

#rereadcontender

#freshandunique

#almostpeedinmypantsLOL

#burningupthesheets

#readandlistenforfree {KU books available as audio}

When you check out the Bite or the blurb on the retail sites, we know you’ll see keywords {Book+Main} or a synopsis {retail sites} there. We feel like you’re coming to us to see what we’re recommending and want a high-level feeling of the experience. It’s our hope that the way we share recommendations with you moving forward connects with you in a new way and serves you better to give you what you want—and more of it! In the interest of “more,” we’ve also brought on some NEW contributors!We’re super excited to announce that Natasha, who shares a KU VLOG with us each Friday, will be contributing, AND we’re bringing on Tammy Becky, which many of you know from The Korner. Tammy has been one of our top contributors in the group—which so many of you comment and agree with—so it only made sense to bring her on board to share her weekly recommendations here.

We hope this gives you more to choose from and gives you a sense of the feeling that each book evoked in us as we read it. If you have any thoughts or feedback, we’d love to hear it!
